Let’s join Casino Plus to find out what conditions Iran has put forward to FIFA!!

Iran Declares Its Desire To Participate In 2026 World Cup

On Saturday, the Football Federation of Iran (FFIRI) announced that its national team will still participate in the 2026 World Cup (June 11-July 19), but demanded a series of guarantees from FIFA and host nations regarding participation in the tournament.

In its latest statement, the FFIRI affirmed that Iran will participate in the World Cup “without abandoning our beliefs, culture, and values,” and stressed that host nations “must take our concerns into account.”

This move comes after FFIRI President Mehdi Taj was denied entry into Canada ahead of the FIFA Congress last month.

Ten Conditions Sent to FIFA

Mr. Taj later revealed that Iran had sent FIFA 10 conditions for participating in the World Cup, which will begin on June 11th in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Among the published demands was a guarantee of visas for all players, coaching staff, and officials accompanying the team, including those who had completed military service in the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC is currently listed as a terrorist organization by the United States and Canada. Mehdi Taj’s connection to this force is believed to be one of the reasons he was denied entry into Canada.

In addition to visa issues, Iran also demanded guarantees regarding the treatment of the national team, including respect for the Iranian flag and anthem, as well as increased security at airports, hotels, and stadiums throughout the tournament.

FIFA and Host Countries in a Difficult Situation

According to the BBC, some demands may fall within FIFA’s purview, particularly those related to organization, official protocol, and support for participating delegations during the tournament. However, issues concerning visa issuance, border control, and security screening ultimately fall under the jurisdiction of the US government, not FIFA.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously stated that Iranian players would be welcomed at the World Cup. However, he also warned that individuals with ties to the IRGC could still face entry restrictions into the US.

This puts FIFA in a sensitive position, having to balance ensuring the participation of teams already qualified for the World Cup with the actual political situation.

Some other demands from the Iranian Football Federation are also considered difficult to implement in practice. According to sources, the Iranian side requested that journalists avoid asking questions outside the scope of “technical football matters.”

The Complex Situation of Iranian Football

In Iran, the lines between football and politics are often blurred. Issues such as team selection, public support for the national team, or the atmosphere surrounding matches can simultaneously carry both sporting and political elements.

This was evident at the Women’s Asian Cup in Australia in March. When several Iranian players sought asylum, leading to diplomatic tensions. Seven members of the team were granted humanitarian visas in Australia, but five later changed their minds and returned home.

Iran’s men’s national team coach, Amir Ghalenoei, recently acknowledged that a politically charged atmosphere can emerge in some of Iran’s World Cup matches.

FIFA Is Determined to Bring The World Cup to A Safe Conclusion

There are currently no signs that Iran will withdraw from the tournament. The latest developments indicate that negotiations between FIFA. The Tehran government, and the US are becoming more complicated ahead of the biggest World Cup in history.

Despite the controversies surrounding Iran, FIFA President Gianni Infantino insists that the World Cup schedule will proceed as planned. The world’s football governing body expects participating nations to complete their matches regardless of the political situation. While also working to address the logistical challenges related to the organization.

The Iranian national team is based in Tucson, Arizona, and is in Group G with New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt. According to the plan. West Asian representative will begin their World Cup journey with a match against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15th.
